The
Diaconate — Caring for the Congregation
Lorene Moore, Chairperson
The Diaconate is the group most responsible for caring for members and
visitors and also for aspects of worship and the life of the church as
a whole. In every way possible, the Diaconate officially serves to help
members and visitors alike to find a warm welcome from the church community
as well as inspiration for the inner person. They of course are joined
in this responsibility with the congregation as a whole, as each person
reaches out and cares, as he or she is able, to others.

Deacons invite others in the congregation to become involved in ways
such as:
- Greeters on Sunday morning
- Setting up and serving Communion
- Ushering
- Flowers
- Visitation of the home-bound and the sick
- Coffee Hour & refreshments, food for various church events
- Seasonal Decoration of the Church
A Fellowship Fund and food pantry are also overseen by the Diaconate to
meet material needs of members of the congregation and wider community
from offerings received of money or food items or by provision of meals,
transportation or other aid.
Music is an important part of worship at First Baptist of Moorestown. An adult choir, directed by Carol Muse, sings for worship regularly September through June, and children and youth sing for special Sundays. Occasionally on Friday evenings, a service including jazz music performed by Pete Romano and other musicians and planned with the pastor is offered for those who find worship surrounded by this contemporary medium meaningful and beautiful.
